Guided Implant Surgery Las Vegas

Guided implant surgery is when oral surgeons use imaging technology to guide them while placing a dental implant into the gum, as opposed to doing it the traditional ‘freehand” style.

Computer guided implant surgery helps surgeons give their patients a new implant during a single office visit. The accuracy and efficiency of guided implant surgery is excellent.

The first step of guided implant surgery is taking CT scans and/or digital X-rays of the patient’s mouth, which helps the oral surgeon create an individualized surgery treatment plan. The surgeon can program the entire implant surgery on a computer screen. These virtual guides can predict how much room will be needed for the implant (metal post made of titanium), the abutment (sits on top of the implant) and the crown (artificial tooth attaches to the abutment).

The oral surgeon can share these virtual images with the patient, before surgery, and go over the procedure. Being able to see exactly how the procedure will be done (virtually) gives many patients peace of mind. With this amazing software, oral surgeons can accurately predict the outcome of the implant surgery and how the crowns will look.

Once the planning stage is done, the advanced computer technology guides the surgeon as he places the implant in the patient’s gum where it will fuse with the jaw bone. A strong feature of guided implant surgery is safety. The computerized surgical guide can actually guide the angle of the drill and limit the depth of the drilling, which prevents the surgeon from going too deep into the gum and jaw bone.

Most guided implant surgeries are completed in less than 20 minutes, while a full arch of implants (to replace all the teeth) may take only an hour. This is much faster than traditional freehand surgery. Your jaw will need about three months to heal while the implant fuses to the jaw bone.

If you're having these issues, maybe you should consider having a dental implant.

Missing teeth

Dislike wearing dentures

Temporary dental fixes

In the next stage, 3D imaging technology and CAD digital design software are used to create a model of the crown. The dental lab uses CAM software to turn the model into an actual crown, right here in our office. You won’t be referred to any other offices as we are a one-stop shop for implants and crowns. The dentist then places the crown on the abutment, which sits on the implant. Finally, digital x-rays may be taken to make sure the placement of the implant and crown are correct.
